Your Picks for the Boom and Zoom Hall of Fame

Prophets of Boom and Zoom

Introducing your Hall of Famers
Compiled by the FWA International Pink Farm Nerve Center and Tantric Spa staff

In a recent Gemini reading, Rob cited himself and such astro- colleagues as visionary activist Caroline Casey, ritualist and filmmaker Antero Alli, and astrologer Ellias Lonsdale as being opposed to the nihilistic doom and gloom that informs popular culture. Instead, he averred, this group is dedicated to the pronoiac goodness of boom and zoom! Who else, he wondered, would you add to the B&Z Hall of Fame? Thanks to all of you who introduced us to new and exciting Hall of Famers!

English astrologer Jonathan Cainer received a hearty swathe of kudos. "He's a bit New-Age-y sometimes, but he's very positive," admits MARCIA. "He's helped me tremendously though he doesn't know it," agrees SAMI.

KAREN salutes "THE WITCH from AncientWeb," and suggests that her "favorite prophet is Daisaku Ikeda."

"William S. Burroughs of course!" is all PAUL needs to say. "The name is LUCIAN URDEA," mysteriously intones RALUCA.

JEN "would like to nominate Jeb Puryear. . . . He is a Geminirific prophet who speaks to the heart and is not afraid to look at the shadow. . . . He believes in Positive Friction and Doing It For Love because Love Is the Only Thing that makes a life feel like livin'."

NICK offers "Caroline Myss and Ron Roth for the Boom and Zoom Hall of Fame. Whereas most people probably think they are honest and direct to a fault, it's only because they don't hold back the truth. Many of us can't handle the truth."

"I nominate Daniel Giamario, Carolyn Brent, and the Shamanic Astrology Staff," shouts CHIQUITA. "Powerful stuff!" While SUZANNE confides, "Try the Vedic vishwaprashas in India.

BILL is in favor of "Sally Brompton (in The Globe and Mail, a Canadian national paper). Not sure if she's Canadian or American, but she's also positive and fun to read."

While PAULA exclaims, "I would like to nominate for the Boom and Zoom Hall of Fame Jessica Adams, author of New Astrology for Women. Her books inspired me to take a course in astrology and I've been reading books on the subject ever since."

CELESTE lauds ,a href="http://www.newage.com.au/">Edward Tamplin because he "is an amazingly brilliant astrologer living here in Sydney. He does the astrology section on a New Age site here in Oz, and will soon have his own site up and running."

MALCOLM posthumously suggests, "Patrick Walker. I did not know him, but he blew my mind regularly." MADDY shouts out about, "MARIAH ROBSON, an astrologer in Sebastopol, CA. . . ." CHRIS suggests, "JANE ROBERTS, author of the Seth Speaks series." And PONYBOY yea's, "I nominate Carolyn Radlo!"

ALISON and others are quick to nominate Eric Francis. But DEB is the only one to suggest that poet W.S. Merwin take a seat at the B&Z table and TIFFANY stands solo in hail of "the prophet John Lennon."

DEANNA suggests "Alan Atkisson, because his book Believing Cassandra is the most uplifting yet practical take on the huge changes that need to take place in humanity that one could probably hope for."

"I would like to nominate the HOPI NATION for maintaining their prophecy that says as of 2012 we will be moving into the Fifth Age of Peace," explains SHAULA. "I am focusing my heart on this paradigm shift -- it's going to take all of us!"

And ALFRED responds, "BILL JOHNSON is neither a prophet or an astrologer, but he definitely is a purveyor of happiness. Bill's byline, if there is such a thing for a Web master, is to 'find the magic.' Bill's 'followers' are many, all either searching for the magic or already having found the magic."

D. says, "I'll save the long explanation to generate your interest in this beautiful site, and just say that a visit to it reminds us all what we always knew -- and inspires us to live beyond our past: The Great Illusion. That's my prophet of the week. Next week it may change."

Hailing Florence Scovel Shinn as "the spiritual bridge of this century," DEAN further explains: "With her works like The Game of Life and How to Play It who else has touched so many with just 95 pages of instructions and observations? My hats and socks off to both of you."

TOM proposes "prophets both living or otherwise unavailable: Bucky Fuller, Edgar Mitchell, Terence McKenna, Dr. Tim, the Firesign Theatre, and Jean Houston. (Who needs drugs with these folks running around inside your head?) As for an astrologer, the Hoosier Seer GARY PAUL GLYNN's weekly AstroLogick column works for me."

KARAH crows, "I hereby nominate PAUL THATCHER, astrologer, tarot reader and herbalist for always reading reversed cards in their upright position. [He says] that energy isn't really positive or negative in the sense of good and bad; rather it's more along the lines of either potential or kinetic. The trick is to utilize the energy in its best possible application for each situation. I have since used this method in my own discussions with tarot with infinitely happier and more productive results!"

And ROSY wasn't the only one to simply nominate herself for this honor. Many of you have caught the B&Z Buzz, including CASEY, ANGELO, JULES, ELISSA, and AMELIA.

WENDY writes, "My nomination is not a prophet or astrologer, but a man whose poetry brings a sense that out of the totally unknown, greatness can come and humanity is not alone. The works of James Dillet Freeman, an American, belong in this genre. His poem 'I am there' sits on the moon, taken by [astronaut Buzz] Aldrin and left there. Its beauty, its comfort, I look to each full moon and recite as a mantra that there is on this planet those of us who feel and exist in an arena between this world and another. Please consider this noble, humble man's works.

SABINE applauds Stariq.com contributor Liz Greene because she "makes connections to myth and psychology that are clear and apt. Her book Astrology for Lovers was a fabulous way for me to get hooked on astrology years ago. It's a great introduction to the 12 signs -- something I can read over and over again through the course of the years and always come away with something new. Her 'Astrological Neptune' is also a real knock out. Read with caution -- this stuff is intense. Also, my mother MARIANNE KAUL-CONNOLLY. Her soul-centered astrology practice has touched many lives. Her work with transits and progressions has helped me through the years to investigate the full potential of all of life's transitions."

MOY proposes the syndicated work of Joyce Jillson, "[as she always offers] a positive or constructive block of advice and rarely -- if ever -- advises one to stay inside or call in sick. Sometimes boring, but always positive."

JAVIER "wants to give props to another astrologer from Miami called Walter Mercado. Sometimes people laugh when I tell them that I like him, because he is very flamboyant, but I always defend him."

And SUZANNE writes, "I do not know them personally, but I like would to nominate QUETZALCOATL (the pale one) for Prophet. As for the astrologers, I have three people in mind: Barbara Hand Clow, Hunbatz Men, and Barbara Hand Clow, Hunbatz Men, and Jose Arguelles. Being a triple Gemini, I am choosing one person for each Gemini."

"I'm nominating CAROL CUMMINGS of Tucson, Arizona to your hall of fame," writes ANN. "Also STAN POSEY, who is an acupuncturist and who cruises through Hindu astrology charts to find hot stuff for clients."

XELA shortly reports, "ROXANNE STERLING-ASTER," but doesn't say why.

And finally, CAROL shines upon astrologer "MARK MCNUTT, Deadwood, Oregon," writing in part: "He's mentored many astrologers who went on to write books and got a lot more famous than he. Plus, he's a funny little Scottish guy who can often be found prancing around in a lavender robe and fuzzy bear hat, especially at the Oregon Country Fair."
